Kung Fu Tea

Kung Fu Tea, the best bubble tea. It has become an obsession, my boyfriend has to limit how many times I am able to actually go get boba now because apparently "It was getting concerning". I know, I can be a total weeaboo at times, and talk about some japanese topics way too much, but I honestly have to talk about my favorite boba tea shop. If you havn't tried bubble tea yet, I insist you make your way here. (I have a download link at the end of this article for free tea)

Bubble tea (also known as pearl milk tea, boba juice, boba milk tea or simply boba) is a tea-based drink invented in the 1980s.

There are many variations of bubble tea with a wide range of ingredients. Most recipes contain a base of tea which is mixed or shaken with fruit or milk. Ice-blended versions of the tea are usually mixed with fruit or syrup, resulting in a slushy consistency. Chewy tapioca balls - also known as bubbles/boba - are often added, hence the name: bubble tea. While there are many other toppings, like nata jelly, pudding, herbal jelly, the bubbles remain the crowd favorite.

In the early ‘90s, bubble tea was pervasive in Japan. From there, international traders pushed the product into little tokyo's all over North America where it flourished. By 2000, a veritable boom was underway with bubble operations opening across the world, Kung Fu Tea included!

Kung Fu Tea is by far my favorite tea joint, they stay true to the authentic flavors but are still able to create fun new flavors. I also love that most of their drinks are vegan, they use plant based milks and not milks coming from animals. My all time favorite is the Winter Melon Milk Green Tea with tapioca boba. Sounds a little weird, doesn't it? It tastes like a creamier version of the matcha milk, my little brother thought it sounded gross but once he tried it, its his favorite drink now.

Boba tea can be done wrongly, so it took me forever to find an amazing bubble shop in the middle of north Texas, but somehow I found it. Kung Fu Tea also has so many locations all over the USA that when I travel, I always find some!
